Anna Maria Moramarco was born in Matera. She graduated in architecture and studied painting .
After a period dedicated to the art of portraiture, in 2012 she held his first solo show in Rome and since then she has participated in numerous group exhibitions and held several personal exhibitions, including the most recent at the Provincial Museum of Potenza and in the Castle of Agropoli.
She has obtained recognition in group exhibitions in Palermo (1st international culture award, 2015), Verona (Triennale of Contemporary Art, 2016) and Milan (Arte Milano 2017 International Award).
Her works have been published in magazines and catalogs. The most recent publication is in the Atlas of Contemporary Art 2020 (De Agostini). Her works are present in private collections in Italy and abroad.
For a long time the center of her work has been the exploration of a very personal world of plastic forms, with the interpenetration and “organic” growth of complex geometric volumes. From time to time, these forms have become gigantic landscape-scale architecture and dark glimpses of menacing "machines" from which petrified bodies emerge. The two series "In the stone" and "The dream of bodies" belong to this first phase.
The most recent series entitled “The life that crosses us” (2020-22) abandons the previous language based on the three-dimensionality of shapes for one focused on color. But the human figure remains central, and together with it the theme of the conflict between freedom and necessity.
Throughout her work Anna Maria Moramarco moves in an "intermediate space" between figuration and abstraction.
